After reading the series, memorizing lines and scenes, getting a Raziel tank top and painting my dad's nails, I finally saw the movie I've been waiting over eight months for. And most of the people in the Shadowhunter fandom waited four years!
We open up with Clary Fray (Lily Collins) talking on the phone with her best friend Simon Lewis (Robert Sheehan). In the book itself, we started off at the Pandemonium Club. And that's the thing; not EVERYTHING was the same as the book! There were more demons, more action, less characters (Max and Chairman Meow). And I think it was easier for the non-fans to follow.
Also, the acting was impeccable! In a particular scene, Simon Lewis (Robert Sheehan) and Clary Fray (Lilly Collins) hug after a fight and Jace Wayland (Jamie Campbell Bower) looks so heartbroken and just angst-ridden that I nearly cried.
But, even if you're not a fan of romance, the action in this movie was amazing. My dad, one of the few males in the theatre, actually enjoyed it! Especially the Hotel Dumort (which is the vampire coven's lair) and the Valentine (Jonathan Rhys Meyer) and Jace (Jamie Campbell Bower) scene had me clenching my fist in anger and yet really, really excited to see what happened.
And the ending, by far, was the best part even though it didn't happen in the book itself. But, I'm not going to give it away. You'll have to go watch it yourself.
All in all, my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and it was totally worth the wait. Check out our reaction to the romance below!
